Newsletter—January 2020

Happy New Year from New Leaf Health & Wellness!

It seems like every January our office conversations start with, “Dr. Trites, I was “bad” over the holidays.” Just to be clear, I’m not certified in clergy and cannot forgive what you may or may not have done during the holidays. There’s really no need to come and “confess your holiday food sins” when you see us this month. What we can discuss is a plan to get you back on track if anything did happen through the holiday season such as too much fun, too much overindulgence, too little sleep and or too much couch potato.

In this day and age, education is paramount for success. If you are reading this and you have never been told you are autoimmune, there’s a 75% chance you are and just have not been properly tested and diagnosed. So, what if you are autoimmune? How do you know what is going on; how can you manage it; what are your triggers and what happens when those occur? Gone are the days of going to the doctor, having a treatment, taking a pill or getting a shot. You have to know what works best for you to best manage your health.

Here is a little about me and my approach to health. I spend hundreds of hours each year to keep abreast of the latest topics and treatments for chronic health conditions and, more importantly, longevity. I am in practice due to my lack of success with a variety of doctors. In my humble opinion, a practice should be ever-evolving, updating, and growing in its knowledge to best serve their patients. Complacency lacks motivation, compassion, desire, understanding and ultimately it creates failed outcomes. I am not perfect but I do my best to run an office striving for perfect practice. This way, when game time arrives, I have put myself in a position to make a difference in your life.

Healthy Habits for Healthy Families
In 2019, Dr. Trites started a charity to help individuals who may not otherwise be able to afford conservative care. He understands the investment in preventative health is an added cost not covered by traditional medical insurance. He believed helping to subsidize some of these expenses through a charity was the best option.

Note: Details in this paragraph were updated 01-27-2020 — Healthy Habits for Healthy Families is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization. In order to receive payment assistance from the charity, all the federal guidelines must be met and all appointments that qualify for assistance must take place in our Texas clinic. If you believe you or a family member may be eligible for reduced appointment fees or would like to make a contribution to help others who need financial assistance at our office, contact our nonprofit liaison at contacthealthyhabits4@gmail.com as our office staff will no longer be fielding questions.

Important to note—the Healthy Habits for Healthy Families charity is a separate entity from New Leaf Health & Wellness. Only designated charity representatives will be able to answer questions or make determinations of assistance.

Patient Referral
Ask for a referral card! Simply refer someone who becomes a patient and enjoy 10% OFF your next supplement purchase OR an acupuncture Acugraph analysis ($100 value) when your referral turns in the card. We’ll apply the discount to your account. One discount per patient referral. An Acugraph analysis is used to determine the benefits of acupuncture for your individual health conditions and challenges and supports self-treatment at home.

We appreciate five-star reviews! Enjoy $5 OFF your next supplement purchase when you give us a review on Google or Facebook!

Credit Card Charges
Effective January 1, 2020, we will no longer charge a credit/debit card on file for in-person or online appointments or for supplement shipments. We will only charge your card on file for rare, last-minute cancellations that fall within our cancellation policy. Please be prepared to settle your account with cash, check, credit/debit, FSA or HSA card at the time of service.

All supplement shipment requests will be invoiced where you can safely and securely pay online. The shipping fee for supplements will increase to $7 to cover rising shipping costs.

Credit card processing companies charge higher fees for manual entries versus swiping a card because it poses a higher security risk for both you and the company. Increasing reports of fraud has made this process more expensive for all parties.

Office Changes
We are sad to announce that Jordan will be leaving the Dallas NLHW office at the end of the month. Her husband has accepted a new position in Oklahoma and they are moving. The good news is she will be working with Dr. Trites at his Oklahoma locations. So, don’t be surprised, Dallas patients, if you hear from her from time to time. She will be missed!

We are excited to announce we have two people joining the New Leaf team! Rachel Hora will run the front desk. She will be your main point of contact for scheduling appointments, account questions, supplement refills, etc. With a degree in Nursing, Katelynn Ford, BSN, joins our staff to assist Dr. Trites during appointments. Taurean will be a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) very soon and will begin to spend more of his time offering massage services in our clinic. He will continue to help in the office as well as with services such as microcurrent and other neuro testing. We will let you know very soon when you can schedule a massage appointment with Taurean. Please welcome both Rachel and Katelynn to New Leaf in the coming days!

With these changes, we have decided to move our office sometime in the second quarter of this year. We are moving for a couple of reasons: our current location is going to be increasingly difficult to get in and out of due to the large apartment complex across the street and we need more space for additional services such as massage therapy and SHAPE counseling. We are looking north of our current location along the Dallas North Tollway and south of President George Bush Tollway. As soon as we have a new location identified, we will let you know.

How to Use SHAPE ReClaimed™ to Improve Your Success with Autoimmune Conditions

Whether you realize it or not, food is both medicine and fuel to your body. How often and what you eat, your lifestyle, family history, work and sleep habits all have a dramatic impact on your overall wellness. The SHAPE ReClaimed program shines a spotlight on negative eating habits that contribute to common health challenges.

SHAPE ReClaimed is a safe, effective nanomolecular dietary supplement created to decrease total body inflammation, enhance immune function, detox and cleanse—all while reducing excess weight.

SHAPE ReClaimed was developed out of decades of clinical experience and is the foundation of the program. What the folks at SHAPE ReClaimed discovered is that the synergistic combination of ingredients in SHAPE ReClaimed, along with the outlined total wellness program, is delivering astounding transformative health benefits for people in the program. The result, in addition to weight loss, is a re-energized, revitalized you!

SHAPE ReClaimed is a practitioner-supervised program and one part of an overall successful wellness approach and philosophy. It is not a “magic bullet” but when incorporated into the program’s protocol, along with sound lifestyle choices, the results are truly life-changing. Dr. Trites has many patients in the SHAPE ReClaimed program and provides a detailed assessment to determine whether you’re a good candidate for the program.

Dr. Trites will be a speaker at the SHAPE ReClaimed conference in St. Louis, April 2nd-4th. He will teach fellow practitioners how to identify autoimmunity, how SHAPE ReClaimed can be used as a method of treatment, how different patients respond to the program and how to identify and treat concurrent health problems.

It can be difficult to define an autoimmune patient and know the best approach. Each patient suffering from an autoimmune disorder needs a custom-designed plan to address their own specific conditions, for success.
In this conference session, Dr. Trites will teach how to identify autoimmunity, how SHAPE ReClaimed can be used as a method of treatment, how different patients respond to the program and how to identify and treat concurrent health problems.

With his diverse background in pathology, MT(ASCP) CLS(NCA) as well as earning a unique diplomat status as a Chiropractic Internist (DABCI), Dr. Trites offers a unique perspective on how to help his patients achieve optimum health. Additionally, Dr. Trites completed his post-graduate certification through the American Board of Chiropractic Internists and holds certifications in Functional Medicine, family practice and acupuncture, and holds status with both the American Board of Chiropractic Internists Diplomat and the Clinical Laboratory Scientist through the American Board of Clinical Pathologists.
