What We Do
The bottom line: we help you get well.

We Ask,
“Why is this happening?”

We focus on identifying and addressing the underlying cause of your illness rather than just suppressing the symptoms.

This approach, referred to as functional wellness, is the foundation of our practice and has enabled us to help hundreds of patients manage and heal chronic health issues.

Using a variety of tools, including neurological tests and comprehensive laboratory tests, we assess your metabolism, hormones, immune system, gastrointestinal system, and nervous system, and then create a customized plan to help you regain your health.

Our goal is to restore proper function and balance to your body. Your healing plan may include nutritional therapy, herbal medicine, supplements, stress management, detoxification, and lifestyle changes.

We help
The whole person

In conventional medicine, there’s a doctor for every part of your body: cardiologists for the heart, gastroenterologists for the digestive system, neurologists for the brain and nervous system, podiatrists for your feet, and ophthalmologists for your eyes. Often times, these specialists don’t ever consider how other areas of the body might be affecting your overall health. But in functional medicine, we see the body as an interconnected whole, within a larger environment.

We work closely with you to get a holistic view of your health—a big-picture perspective. By looking for the commonalities and patterns across all systems, we can offer support and interventions that affect multiple pathways, helping you recover your health faster and more completely.

Our Philosophy

New Leaf’s manifesto for achieving and sustaining great health

Our alternative medicine approach is multifactorial and of course, it starts with good nutrition. Which direction should you go? What do your genetics and lifestyle support? Some patients cannot handle a ketogenic diet and some can’t handle carbs and protein. What nutrients do you need, if any? We test for these nuances. If you are vitamin D deficient which brand should you use for supplementation? We all need to move/exercise but at some point, everyone is no longer a professional athlete. What works best for you and your conditions? Running, yoga, one to five minutes of high intensity or weight training? We also test for these nuances.

Each step is an individualized approach splitting our clinic from traditional medicine and other single-approach complementary health offices including most chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapy, homeopathic and nutritionists. At best, a single-service, stand-alone type medical office can expect resolution in fewer than 33% of their cases. By putting it all together we create a plan specific for your genetics, lifestyle and stress level using a multifaceted, alternative approach. This combination significantly impacts your health and treatment success.

Designed to be healthy

Our bodies are designed to be healthy. When they are not, there is a reason. Provide the right care and environment, and that reason will resolve itself.

Food is the foundation

There is no pill, procedure, or exercise that can overcome a bad diet. Humans are designed to eat real food. We get sick when we eat man-made, processed food.

In case of emergency

Drugs and surgery can save your life. Use them in emergencies.

Daily dose

Real food, supplements, exercise, chiropractic, acupuncture, and other types of natural health care can restore your health. Use them daily.

Being healthy requires effort

Maintenance and prevention are more pleasant than illness and intervention. Given the toxins in our food, air, water and soil and the stressful way we live today, health is no longer by chance. Health takes intention and effort.

Our Patients

There are many types of patients—ours are the ones who are open to learning new ideas about how to be healthy and thrive. Our patients:
Want to discover the underlying cause of their problems, not just mask the symptoms
Are willing to actively participate in their own healing process
Understand that making dietary and lifestyle changes is an essential part of sustaining their well-being
Understand that drugs or medical interventions can play a role in their health, but usually only for emergencies

Conditions we help

We see the body as a whole, interconnected system. Patients often come to us with what they think is a single problem, and we uncover that the real problem is actually related to a group of systems that aren’t working together. It’s not uncommon that our patients come to us having been misdiagnosed or told that there is no medical explanation for their symptoms. Fortunately, we know that if you are experiencing symptoms of any kind, there is a root cause. Our job is to help you figure it out.
